The Longboat Key Fire Rescue Department, along with firefighters from West Manatee and Englewood Fire Districts, will conduct high-rise firefighting exercises at The Longboat Key Club & Resort Aug. 24-26.
Through the cooperation of resort management and unit owners at The Inn on the Beach Association, firefighters will train in a 10-story building and hone their life-saving and firefighting skills.
Firefighters will test their skills and knowledge in various aspects of firefighting such as search and rescue, mayday (rescuing one of their own), tactics and strategy, incident command, communication and working with other fire departments in a major fire incident.
This drill also provides Longboat Key firefighters an opportunity to train utilizing a recently acquired fire truck and high-rise packs.
