Two turtle nests have hatched on Longboat Key and have been scheduled for excavation.
The first nest opening will take place at 7:45 p.m. tonight at 4241 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Parking is available at Turtle Crawl Inn, 4235 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
The second nest opening will take place at 7:45 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, at 4949 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Park at the public beach access located at 4795 Gulf of Mexico Drive, between Westchester and Bleu Claire.
The events will be canceled only if lightning is present.
