- ..this is exactly the kind of excess development in flood-plain and coastal habitat that the County's ComprehensivePlan by-laws were designed to stop...Enough already!!..The County needs to shoot this down and then get back to a semblance of sanity with regard to Manatee County's environmental and flood-specific goals. This is area is a major contributor to the success of local fishing and visitor returns..it's gorgeous..and nothing like it in all of the major northern portion of sarasota bay...It is a jewel...we have plenty enough "amenities" already....North Longboat key, Bradenton Beach,.Cortez and Holmes Beach...tons of shoppes, bars and restaurants...Bolletierri Academy can build a hotel but please..let's not let them blast out a 1-mile long marina entrance channel out of the 1-foot deep waters that surround Long Bar...and lets try to keep condos from towering over the mangroves there..it's the one place left in north Sarasota bay where you pass by in a boat and dont see much human impact...
