Mote Marine Laboratory’s Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital will release Mate, a juvenile green sea turtle, at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, from Coquina Baywalk on Bradenton Beach.
Mate was brought to Mote in March after he was struck by a boat and stranded in Longboat Pass. He was treated with antibiotics, which allowed his head wound to heal. Mate was one of the turtles featured in the May 13 “Crawling toward cures” story in The Longboat Observer.
