Dan Lee Baumann, 58, of Sarasota, died June 1.
Born Aug. 21, 1951, he was a former resident of Biloxi, Miss. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and served in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Baumann worked as assistant manager for the past five years at the Longboat Key 7-Eleven, where he loved greeting his customers who were more like his friends. He took pride in knowing what each regular customer was stopping by for, whether it was a bagel or a cup of coffee. Mr. Baumann enjoyed reading and spending time with his poodle, Omega.
Mr. Baumann is survived by his partner, Michael Carone; sister, Judy Neilson, of New Haven, Ind.; brothers Roy, of Melbourne, and Gary, of Wisconsin; and two sons.
A service with military honors took place Saturday, June 5, at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Sarasota.
