Stephen Winters, 61, of Longboat Key, died April 25.
Born Jan. 17, 1949, in Worcester, Mass., he was raised in St. Petersburg. He worked in maintenance, most recently at The Colony Beach & Tennis Resort. He lived on Longboat Key for about five years.
Mr. Winters loved the ocean, island life and art and was skilled at drawing and painting sea turtles. He was a self-taught guitar player and is remembered by friends and family members as a “Renaissance man.”
Mr. Winters is survived by his children Chelsea, Robert and Kristin; five grandchildren; and partner, Lorri Gibson. A celebration of life was held Saturday, May 1, in St. Petersburg.

Golfer scores victory with less than a stroke
The Longboat Key Masters Golf Tournament, which took place March 28 through March 31, at the Resort at Longboat Key Club’s Islandside and Harbourside golf courses came down to less than one stroke’s difference between first-place winner Kevin Preston and second-place winner Michael Russell, of Longboat Key.
