William Carroll Mott, 83, of Longboat Key, died April 18.
Born June 15, 1927, in Carlisle, Iowa, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and graduated from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and law school at Drake University, in Des Moines.
Mr. Mott was an executive with General Motors Corp. and spent 25 years with General Motors Overseas Corp. in Europe and Africa, where he earned the position of executive vice president of the overseas division. He moved to Longboat Key in 1989 from Charlevoix, Mich., and was a member of Longboat Island Chapel.
A service will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 23, at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Donations can be made to the chapel’s outreach ministries, islandchapel.com. To share memories of Mr. Mott, visit lordmott.com.

A fitting tribute
A day after receiving an Ageless Creativity Award from the Ringling College/Longboat Key Center for the Arts in honor of their late father, Ed Brickman, daughter Carol Diamant and son Eli Brickman held a celebration of life service Saturday.
Alma mater honors Harold Ronson
Philadelphia University presented Longboat Key resident Harold Ronson with its “Leadership in Philanthropy” award Oct. 11, at its Homecoming Dinner Dance.
