The competition is heating up at the sixth Sarasota Open, which began Saturday, April 13, at the Longboat Key Club & Resort’s Tennis Gardens.
Will former winners Sam Querrey, James Blake or Jesse Levine earn another title? Will 19-year-old Mitchell Krueger best older veterans? Will an IMG student — Brooke Lashway, Caroline Dailey or Dasha Sharapova — win the inaugural Nick Bollettieri Sarasota Women’s Open?
We’ll have to wait and see.
By attending the Sarasota Open, you can help two charitable organizations, the Center for Building Hope and Ripple Africa.
The Center for Building Hope offers information, programs and services to cancer patients, caregivers and family members, and connects people in similar circumstances. Island Squeeze, which is selling frozen drinks at the tournament, will donate a portion of its proceeds to the center.
Ripple Africa is involved in educational, health care and environmental projects in Malawi. The Sarasota Open donates a portion of its proceeds to the organization.
