The state of Florida has new driver’s license renewal requirements as part of a federal mandate.

The majority of people are being turned away from local driver’s license offices because specific forms are now required to renew the license.

U.S. citizens must provide a birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, a certificate of naturalization or a report of birth abroad.

A Social Security card, a W-2 form or a paycheck that lists the entire number on it must be presented to verify Social Security numbers.

And verification of residential addresses are required by a deed mortgage payment book, a rental agreement, a Florida vehicle registration, a vehicle title, a utility bill or a voter information card.

Driver’s license holders can only renew a license once by mail now or on the Internet at www.GoRenew.com.

And if a license holder is over the age of 79, drivers must renew their license in person and have to take a vision test.
