Longboat Key and the entire Southwest Florida area is under a tornado watch until 1 p.m. today.
Thunderstorms and strong 35 mph winds are expected throughout the day, with the chance of rain at its highest at 4 p.m. today.
Severe thunderstorms and at least one tornado has been spotted in Central Florida earlier today as strong storms push south into the area this afternoon.
Tomorrow, the chance of rain is only 10% and highs this weekend are expected to be in the high 70s.
