Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce President Tom Aposporos and a working trolley group trying to promote the under-performing Longboat Key route will begin printing and distributing brochures that will be placed at Key hotels and businesses.
Now that a new trolley schedule exists, the trolley route brochure can be finalized and printed for distribution in April.
The Longboat Key trolley service now operates at one-hour intervals from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The service costs 75 cents, 35 cents for seniors, ages 60 and older. The trolley will not operate on major holidays including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

- To waste money printing schedules is adding folly to a losing venture. Tourists rent cars. They don't need a trolley. Residents have cars. They don't need a trolley. Junk the trolley. It's a waste of taxpayers' money. But even if you still offered it, make it pay for itself. Would a rider be wiling to pay $20.00 or more for a one way ride? And drive a car to get to the trolley? Nuts.

- The Trolley Folly is is still running on EMPTY as in EMPTY and by printiing a few fancy brochures and leaving them at Motel 6 and the like, isn't going to increase ridership. The TROLLY is just another piece of AMMUNITION for the TEA PARTY. TOM, we will leave the lights on for you, but you still can't see in the dark.
