The Longboat Key Planning and Zoning Board will review a list of seven town code clarifications suggested by The Longboat Key Club and Resort at a special meeting 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.
Planning, Zoning and Building Director Monica Simpson told planning board members in an e-mail dated March 17 that the board will review the club’s code amendment request for its $400 million Islandside renovation-and-expansion project all day Tuesday.
If another meeting is needed, the planning board has also agreed to meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8.
The seven proposed clarifications to the code submitted to the town Tuesday, club attorney John Patterson said, will eliminate code ambiguities and move the project forward to a Town Commission vote without many of the legal challenges presented by attorneys for the Islandside Property Owners Coalition, which opposes the project.
The planning board has been charged by the Town Commission for reviewing the club’s code suggestions as well as any other issues that may arise during its review of the code.
