IPOC president forecasts long Islandside project delay

Islandside Property Owners Coalition President Bob White sent an e-mail to some Key residents Wednesday explaining the Town Commission’s decision to let its Planning and Zoning Board review town codes could lead to a long review of the town code.
White and IPOC attorney Michael Furen urged the commission not to have its planning board look at just codes that affect the Longboat Key Club and Resort’s Islandside renovation-and-expansion project but also to review the town’s entire set of codes and its Comprehensive Plan.
And White doubts the club will be able to get the town to make code revisions that would raise the cap on non-residential development .
Wrote White: “My guess is that the club has a very tough row to hoe with this endeavor as the sections they hope to amend are bedrock provisions that will affect many more residents than those living in Islandside.”
