If residents want to vote early for the March 16 Longboat Key Town Commission election, they’ll have to go the supervisor of elections office in the county in which they reside.
So the Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce has announced it will help residents to cast their ballots early by arranging for transportation for those who want to vote early in person.
Chamber President Tom Aposporos said chamber members suggested the idea when they learned that residents would have to travel to one of the two offices to vote early.
“I am pleased that our members place such value on our right to vote to want to provide assistance,” Aposporos said.
Aposporos said that he does not know the number of registered voters in need of transportation.
Voters in need of transportation can call the chamber office at 383-2466.
