Two protesters called for the impeachment of President Barack Obama with signs and fliers Monday near Longboat Key Publix.
The protesters are affiliated with activist Lyndon LaRouche Jr.’s LaRouchePAC. The fliers protesters distributed today described the United States as “backing an outright neo-Nazi regime-change coup in Ukraine” and urge Congress to impeach Obama “in order to save the United States from an economic breakdown crisis and prevent the immediate outbreak of thermonuclear war.”
Chris Sare, of Bogota, N.J., said the group is traveling across the country with its message. Last year, the group called for Obama’s impeachment outside of the Longboat Key Post Office.
Reaction to Monday’s protest was been mixed, according to Sare.
“Some people reading our signs have been saying, ‘Thank god, you’re here,’” he said. “Other people have called the police to try to remove us.”
A Longboat Key police officer was stationed nearby in the shopping center parking lot, but Sare said they haven't tried to remove them.
“Police have protected our First Amendment right to be here," he said.

- Idiots, they need a reason to impeach the President The do nothing GOP congress should be impeached!
- Why would they be shot by an opposition that doesn't believe in guns? What you said makes no sense whatsoever. LOL...btw, it is my constitutional right to own guns...ever hear of the 2nd amendment? Also, our "president" deserves to be impeached for SO MANY reasons, I can't even list them all....
- Thank GOD they were there...maybe we can actually get some things accomplished with AWESOME groups like this!!! Thanks so much :-)
- They had the right and the very poor taste to protest our President. It's lucky they weren't shot because their opposition does not believe in guns for everyone as they do.
