The Longboat Key Historical Society closed its museum last fall, but that doesn’t mean the group is history.
When Northern Trust closed its Longboat Key branch in December, it donated a set of photos to the Historical Society featuring the island’s early days, some of which are now on display at First Bank in the Centre Shops.
The Historical Society also currently has paintings on display at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design, and will have items on display at other locations in the future.
Upcoming Longboat Key Historical Society’s lectures are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, and Thursday, March 6, at Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian, 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
