Allan Bergman, 75, of Longboat Key, died Jan. 29, 2010.
Born Dec. 13, 1934, in Scranton, Pa., he graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1956 and earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958.
Mr. Bergman retired as a senior executive at National Starch and Chemical Co. after nearly 40 years in 1999. He enjoyed tennis and was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Boston Red Sox.
Mr. Bergman is survived by companion Kathy Pendleton; daughter, Caroline Gottschalk, of New York City; son, Jeffrey, of Short Hills, N.J.; and four grandchildren.
