The West Florida Chapter of Community Associations Institute is hosting a “Fire Safety Issues for Condominiums and High-Rise Buildings” seminar 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
Longboat Key fire marshal Lou Gagliardi and Sarasota County fire marshal Jane Ross will lead a panel to discuss condominium fire safety issues.
CAI is sponsoring a series of educational programs for condominium, co-op and homeowner association members. These programs are open to any association board members and condo/home owners.
The seminars are free, but seating is limited and participants must pre-register.
Also, during this event, businesses that specialize in serving the community association industry will be on hand during a "mini trade show" to display their products and services and to answer your questions.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
