Second Bayfront Park meeting planned for Monday
Date: February 2, 2012
by: Robin Hartill | City Editor
A second community meeting to discuss the future of Bayfront Park is planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Bayfront Park Recreation Center, 4052 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
The town will seek additional input from residents and discuss the next steps for the park. Architect Lisa Wannemacher, who designed a conceptual plan for a community center at the park, will be present at the meeting.
Wannemacher presented plans for the project at a Jan. 18 meeting, which approximately 50 residents attended.

Jim Brown must have a lapse of memory about what the residence of LBK want and do not want. A community center has millions of dollars in debt, double the price tag in 2004. On going operating, labor, and maintenance expenses.
We have plenty of venues to meet our friends and socialize. Our privacy and less access to the outside public is what people see in living on LBK prefer.
This would be an excellent piece of property for the town to sell to commercial developers for nice shops, hotel for our convenience. Town leaders do not have to look to far. The Long Boat Key Club has made the Key the world class resort it is today.
income from the sale of the property should be used to reduce the Town debt and lower our property taxes, The library needs funding and is more important than another government project funded by the tax payers.
The Town should start to shore up its bottom line.It would generate property taxes and sales taxes for years to come, Most people would call it a cash cow, Cash is King!
Vote NO, for this politicians pet project.
