We all know Longboat Key never gets old.
But many of its properties are aging.
The Longboat Key Public Interest Committee (PIC) and the Longboat Key Revitalization Task Force will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort, 4711 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to address issues related to revitalization.
The forum will address questions such as:
Is Longboat Key’s housing and commercial stock in need of revitalization? If so, does it need a facelift — or reconstructive surgery?
According to Task Force Chairman and former mayor George Spoll, the objective is “to inform and encourage the populace to prepare for the changing market and thereby enable Longboat to remain an outstanding residential community and destination resort.”
Tom Aposporos, president of the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Task Force, will narrate a PowerPoint presentation compiled by Task Force Vice Chairman Tom Freiwald.
A panel discussion involving Mayor Jim Brown and representatives of commercial and residential groups will follow.
