+ Tommy Bahama hires Peg McKay Pluto
Tommy Bahama Restaurant on St. Armands Circle has hired Peg McKay Pluto as restaurant coordinator.
Pluto will work closely with General Manager Thai Branton to increase events for the restaurant and will represent the company at local business functions, seek new business and coordinate all outreach marketing and charitable involvement.
Pluto was involved in the opening of the Comfort Suites, University Park, Fairfield Inn in Lakewood Ranch, Hampton Inn at Ellenton, Holiday Inn SRQ and Bentley’s Boutique Resort in Osprey. She is the former director of sales and marketing with the Holiday Inn Lakewood Ranch and is presently the executive secretary and editor of Jazz Sounds for the Jazz Club of Sarasota.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
