Sept. 28 Scenic route 5:27 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Reckless Driving. An elderly woman apologized to police for driving too slowly and weaving on Gulf of Mexico Drive. She said she had not been on the Key in a while and was sightseeing.

Sept. 23 Sandwich solace 11:12 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Suspicious Person. A man was reported loitering near a drug store. But police determined the man, who was eating a sandwich, could finish his meal.

Sept. 18 Relocation plan 9:23 a.m. — 2900 block of GMD. Animal. The Public Works Department informed police that a large and aggressive bee colony was discovered near someone's home. Police roped off the right of way where the hive was located, and a beekeeper was called to relocate the hive.

Sept. 10 Cranking it up 6:10 p.m. — 700 block of GMD. Noise Disturbance. A man called to report a noise disturbance on St. Judes Drive. A homeowner informed police that his son had turned up a new amplifier earlier to see how it performed.

Sept. 4 Family feud 10:45 p.m. — 500 block of Sutton Place. Domestic Violence. Two sisters were arrested for domestic battery after they began throwing punches at each other and breaking objects in a condominium. One of the sisters accused the other one of texting too much on her cell phone.

Aug. 23 Safe and secure 9:33 p.m. — 500 block of Schooner Lane. Alarm. Police responded to an alarm and found a sliding glass door to a home unlocked. The door was secured and the alarm was reset.

Aug. 14 Burned out 11:11 p.m. — 3100 block of Bayou Sound. Fire. Police responded to a report of an overheating stove, which set off a smoke detector. The stove was checked, and the smoke detector was reset.

A man reported watching occupants on a 28-foot boat called the “Scrappy T” run into a wooden dock on the other side of the canal. The accident caused extensive damage to the dock and an underground piling.

Aug. 8 "Wood worker" 11:33 a.m. - 500 block of Norton Street. Code Enforcement. A man was warned he couldn't cut pieces of wood in his carport area after 5 p.m. because it violated the town's noise ordinance.

July 31 "Dancing fool" 7:12 p.m. — Off the Key. Disturbance. Police told several people to stop jumping off the south end of Longboat Pass Bridge. They were also told to turn their radio down and that it was illegal to drink beer on the island. As police started to walk away, one young man wearing a thong and holding a beer came out from under the bridge and started to gyrate his hips, telling police to come and get him. Police called for the police boat and the man was arrested after he started to incite the crowd by his drunken behavior. The man, who threatened to have his father get the officer who arrested him fired, later apologized for his actions, blaming the incident on too much Schnapps and vodka.
