9:57 a.m. — 5000 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A woman reported that her sister abducted their mother and moved her to Lakeland. She has spoken with attorney about bringing her mother, whom she takes care of, back to Longboat Key.
4:50 p.m. — Off the Key. Disturbance. Police received word there was a disturbance at the sandbar that sits off Jewfish Key near Longboat Pass. Several people, who were on two separate boats, got into a dispute.
4:12 a.m. — 4100 block of GMD. Fire. A man who lives in an apartment above a restaurant woke to the smell of smoke. Longboat Key Fire Rescue determined the smoke was from a pot that was left on a stove. The pilot light on the stove had already turned off.
Circle or racetrack?
11:22 p.m. — Off the Key. Assist Other Agency. Police responded to St. Armands Circle after Sarasota Police reported a man traveling 78 mph in the area of St. Armands Circle. He was arrested for driving under the influence.
7:37 p.m. — 5100 block of GMD. Missing Person. A man told police he had left his wife in the car while he went back to his room to make sure it was locked. When he returned, his wife was gone. A half hour later, an officer spotted her on the beach.

Mar Vista dollars to benefit local teen
Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub’s walls and ceiling are covered with dollar bills, signed and decorated by patrons. Every few years the restaurant removes the bills for a good cause.
