Pedal to the concrete
12:07 p.m. — 700 block of Dream Island Road. Property Damage. A man accidentally hit his gas pedal instead of his brake pedal while backing out of his driveway, causing him to strike a cinder-block wall and knock down its brick support column. The driver said that he is a friend of the property owner and would notify him of the incident.
Shouldering the load
10:55 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Disturbance. A waitress told police that the owner of the restaurant where she works used explicit language and pushed her right shoulder three times during an argument about a guest who was having trouble getting the glass of wine he ordered. The restaurant owner appeared slightly intoxicated, according to police. The owner said that he told both the waitress and a bartender who were arguing about the issue to shut up but denied touching the woman. Police planned to investigate further.

Temporary arrangement
4:36 p.m. — 500 block of Bayview Drive. Public Service. Firefighters and police told a woman that she should leave her home due to high waters and a lack of electricity. The woman didn’t want to leave but agreed after police called her neighbors, who said that she could either stay with them or in a vacant rental next door.
Hot wire
4:40 p.m. — Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Gulf Side Road. Fire. Police found a wire that had been severed after receiving a report of downed wires.
False alarm
6:05 p.m. — Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Companion Way. Fire. Police responded to a report of arcing wires but found no obvious signs of arcing.

Exploded transformer
4:07 a.m. — 5800 block of GMD. Fire. Police saw a transformer explode while patrolling a neighborhood and advised dispatch to contact firefighters.
