Longboat Key drummer Al Hixon and the "Jazz All Stars" performed at the Longboat Key Arts Center on Tuesday, March 16. The group included Hixon on the drums, Dick Reynolds on the piano, Bob Switzer on the trumpet, Richard Drexler on bass, Jim Wellen on saxophone and the vocals of Katt Hefner.

Artists and art appreciators alike gathered in the Jean Purcell Hendry Conference Hall for the reception for Mote Marine Laboratory's first Juried Art Exhibition and Silent Auction on Thursday, March 11. Deborah Dart chaired the event where Sandra Frick's piece "On the Water/In the Water" took first place and Casey Scott's painting "Twilight's Last Rise" was awarded best in show.
