HOME OF THE MONTH: Golden Oldie

November's home of the month is a 1920s home owned by Ron and Patsy Merriman
The Merrimans' house sits on more than a half-acre of land, which is home to one of Sarasota's most spectacular oak trees.
The fireplace, flanked by candle-light fixtures, is original to the house.
The windows and doors are original to the house. There are more than 200 panes of glass in the house.
The kitchen was hardly touched. It has older — though not original — woodent cabinets and tile countertops.
This slab of tempered glass was shipped to Florida from New York when it didn't fit in the Merrimans' son's apartment.
From the screened front porch, you can see the sunlight gleaming on the bay.
Ron Merriman studied how closets were built in the 1920s and adapted the design to a larger scale.
