+ Once upon a time, I tweeted during a show
I am not a fan of people using cell phones or even hearing them vibrate during any performance, but during this week’s Sarasota Orchestra performance, “Once Upon a Time,” I’m making an exception. The orchestra has invited me to sit in the social savvy seats Saturday, Oct. 6, when I will be live tweeting about the multimedia performance. This is much like having a conversation after the performance with friends, but now everyone can weigh-in on the event. Social savvy seats are a special section for those participating, so we are not distracting to other audience members. You can follow me on Twitter @MalloryGnaegy to see what I think. And, please tweet me after the show to let me know what you think!
+ All that jazz
The Jazz Club of Sarasota’s “Jazz at Two” concert series begins Friday, Oct. 5. The series, founded in 2001, showcases regional jazz performers. ‘Stompin’ at the Savoy’: Sarasota Orchestra will present the Great Escapes 1 series featuring a lot of Gershwin, a little bit of Brubaker and some Billy Joel. It opens at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Holley Hall, 709 N. Tamiami Trail. Tickets are $26 to $38. Call 953-3434.
