Voting ends Sunday for ABC News contest

Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, for ABC News Nightline’s annual “People’s Platelist Contest,” in which Euphemia Haye Restaurant chef/proprietor Ray Arpke is a finalist.
The contest recognizes chefs whose cuisine is exceptionally creative and authentic. Arpke is one of 20 finalists chosen from more than 1,000 entries and the only finalist from Florida.
The winner will be determined by popular vote and will be announced live on a broadcast during the week of Sept. 27. The winner will be the subject of a special Nightline segment. To view videos of each contestant and to vote, go to abcnews.go.com/Nightline/Platelist.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
