Weekend Best Bet: Annual Creators & Collectors Art Tour

This two-day annual self-guided tour Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, hosted by Fine Arts Society of Sarasota introduces attendees to Sarasota county artists and their work.
This tour includes stops to eight Sarasota artists at their studios, where one can meet the artist and learn about their processes. In addition, a stop at Ulla Searing Student Center will offer 12 additional artists and their work. Tickets are $20 to $25 dollars available at fineartssarasota.com.
Artists included on the tour include Bill Buchman, Larry Forgard, Ki Woon Huh, William Kelly, John Seerey Lester, Suzie Seerey-Lester, David Wilson, and R.O. Woody. The Ringling College of Art + Design's Ulla Searing Student Center will showcase the art work of the following Galleria Artists: Aline Blanchard, Joanna Coke, Susan Copley, Patricia Curtis, Diana Kahlenberg, Judy Kramer, Felicia Liban, Madeby Gallery, Elizabeth Van Riper, and Amy Webber.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
