Day 3: Installation erected outside future home of Sarasota Museum of Art
Date: January 9, 2013
by: Mallory Gnaegy | A&E Editor
Patrick Dougherty arrived Jan. 7 to start the installation process of an outdoor exhibit that looks like a cross between a bird’s nest and a historic indigenous person’s home.
Each day, 15 to 20 volunteers arrive at 8 a.m. to help construct the sculpture by weaving crepe myrtle from scaffolding.
A second shift of volunteers begins at 1 p.m. and daily docent tours take place at 2 p.m.
