Woodland hosts summer sports camps

More than 50 students in grades four through nine spent the week of July 13-17 learning basketball and volleyball fundamentals during Woodland, The Community Church's advanced girls basketball and volleyball summer sports camps. Participants learned basic basketball and volleyball drills, played games and focused on spiritual devotion. Woodland also hosted several other sports camps this summer, including football, tennis and sports ministry, among others.

The Manatee East Little League 10- and-11-year-old All-Stars won their first district championship with an 8-5 victory over Braden River in game two of the best-of-three championship series July 16.

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
