Pirates coach resigns

Braden River High head football coach Ed Volz resigned from his position this afternoon. Volz, who led the Pirates to the Class 3A-Region 3 semifinals, will assume the head coaching position at Sarasota.

Dozens of girls hit the gridiron for the second annual Doug Garrity Pirate Puff Classic Dec. 17 at Braden River High School. The seniors defeated the freshmen 14-7 in Game 1, and the juniors defeated the sophomores 14-7 in Game 2, setting up a championship game between the seniors and the juniors, which the juniors won 7-0.
