Hundreds of Braden River and Manatee East Little Leaguers welcomed the 2010 spring season with opening day ceremonies Feb. 20. After throwing out the first pitch, players participated in homerun derbies and scrimmages. Additionally, players enjoyed games and activities, including dunk tanks, bounce houses, visits from members of the Pittsburgh Pirates, raffles, refreshments and more. The spring season will run through May.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
