The Braden River High girls basketball team improved to 10-3 with victories over North Port and rival Lakewood Ranch this week.
On Dec. 17, the Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Bobcats 43-40, ending North Port’s eight-game winning streak. Kelly Logan scored 11 points. Madison Jaco had seven points and nine rebounds. Cheyenne Ogline added seven points and eight rebounds for Braden River.
On Dec. 19, Braden River edged past rival Lakewood Ranch 39-38. Jaco had 11 points and Ogline added 10 points to pace the Lady Pirates.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
