Rather than looking ahead to the playoffs, the Lakewood Ranch High football team spent the past week preparing for their final regular season game against Wauchula Hardee.
Lakewood's preparation paid off as the Mustangs defeated the Class 2A-District 6 champion Wildcats 35-22 tonight, handing Hardee its first loss of the season.
With the win, the Mustangs improve their record to 6-4.
Lakewood will return to action Nov. 20 when the team travels to Cape Coral to take on the Seahawks in the Class 4A-Region 3 quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
For a complete summary of tonight's game and a look at Lakewood's playoff preparations pick up the Nov. 19 issue of the East County Observer.
