Seniors Ashley Reid and Johnny Silvers earned individual top five finishes as the Lakewood Ranch High swim team posted an impressive showing at the Class 2A FHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships Nov. 12.
The girls team finished eighth with 97 points while the boys team finished 11th with 70 points. Top 16 finishes include:
Girls 200 Medley Relay- Ashley Reid, Danielle Valley, Rebekah Baker and Shannon McCarthy, seventh (1:54.56)
Boys 200 Freestyle- Johnny Silvers, eighth (1:46.18)
Girls 200 IM- Reid, fifth (2:07.56)
Girls 50 Freestyle- McCarthy, 12th (25.36)
Boys 50 Freestyle- Lucas Thompson, seventh (21.93)
Boys 500 Freestyle- Silvers, fourth (4:38.29)
Boys 200 Freestyle Relay- Thompson, Jimmy Cascone, Matt Polk and Silvers, ninth (1:32.13)
Girls 100 Breaststroke- Reid, fifth, (1:09.17)
Girls 400 Freestyle Relay- McCarthy, Valley, Baker and Reid, fourth (3:41.27)
Boys 400 Freestyle Relay- Thompson, Cascone, Silvers and Polk, 10th (3:22.92)

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
