Lakewood Ranch High senior Rocky Khara signed a national letter of intent today to play golf for Virginia Commonwealth University.
Khara, who has family in Virginia, chose VCU over a number of Division I schools, including the University of Michigan, Louisville, Michigan State Univeristy and the University of California, Irvine, among others.
"It's kind of a relief," Khara said. "I knew I wanted to sign early, and I believe VCU could take me to the next level in golf."
Khara will now spend the rest of his senior year practicing and playing some American Junior Golf Association Tournaments and possibly some amateur tournaments before heading up to VCU in August.
