Zarrella paces Lady Mustangs to second-place finish

Lakewood Ranch High senior Kristin Zarrella finished third in 19:42.10 to pace the Lady Mustangs to a second-place finish at the Class 3A-District 11 Cross-Country Meet Nov. 2 in Estero.
Lakewood scored 44 points to finish behind Estero (20 points).
Natalie Novak finished sixth in 20:19.10 followed by Katie Wray (10th, 20:48.20), Julia Ortiz (11th, 20:55.30), Michelle Last (14th, 21:16.00), Elizabeth Chandler (16th, 21:55.80) and Ashley Platt (17th, 22:12.90).
Braden River’s Alexis Cullen finished 13th in 21:04.90 to pace the Lady Pirates who finished fifth overall with 132 points.
The Lakewood Ranch High boys cross-country team also finished second (70 points) behind Estero (31 points).
Mitch Arnold finished eighth in 17:32.60 to pace the Mustangs. Josh Napier finished 11th in 18:02.40 followed by Steven Estes (12th, 18:04.00), George Dabbiero (19th, 18:20.90), Jonathan Milkovich (20th, 18:21.90) and Tyler McWilliam (23rd, 18:27.20).
Braden River’s Matthew McFall finished 15th in 18:06.70 to pace the Pirates, who finished eighth overall.
