Residents of Esplanade in Lakewood Ranch may soon have their own 18-hole golf course.
According to a company press release Nov. 5, Taylor Morrison bought nearly 400 acres of land adjacent to Esplanade to add an 18-hole golf course to the community.
In January 2013, the community will be renamed Esplanade Golf and Country Club at Lakewood Ranch — just after closing on the parcel, which is scheduled for later this year.
With the expansion, the community will encompass over 600 acres and will consist of 1,250 home sites in addition to a 18-hole golf course and two amenity centers.
The expansion will also feature Har-Tru tennis courts, a lagoon pool with snack bar, a golf and tennis pro shop, and additional bocce ball courts. The 12,000-square foot clubhouse will feature a restaurant and bar, full-service catering kitchen, library and billiard room. A 6,000-square-foot wellness center will also be included.
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
