The Braden River High volleyball team secured its third consecutive trip to the regional tournament with a 3-0 victory over Osceola in the Class 4A-District 10 semifinals Oct. 28.
The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Warriors 25-14, 25-20 and 25-12. Senior Lauren Powell finished with 14 kills, followed by Allison Martin with seven, Kaleigh Jaco with six and Brittany Jaco with five. Senior setter Regina Aluise served up 39 assists.
With the win, the top-seeded Lady Pirates advance to tonight's district championship game at St. Pete Lakewood where they will try to win their first-ever team title. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
