The No. 3 seed Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team defeated No. 2 seed Cardinal Mooney 15-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 in a Class 3A-District 10 semifinal Oct. 23.
With the win, the Lady Thunder earned a berth in the regional tournament.
Natalie Buffett paced the Lady Thunder with 16 kills. Gabriella Costa had 10 kills and five blocks. Lauren Maxey added eight kills. Haley Preininger had 20 assists.
ODA will face No. 1 seed St. Stephen’s at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in the district championship.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
