The Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team finished third at the Northside Christian Invitational Oct. 12-13.
The Lady Thunder beat the Tampa Bay Heat 22-25, 25-6, 25-22, 25-14 and Pope John Paul 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-17 before falling to Clearwater 25-14, 20-25, 25-27, 17-25.
ODA fell to Orangewood 13-25, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25 in the first round of the winner’s bracket Oct. 13. The Lady Thunder responded with a 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 25-18 victory over Northside Christian to finish third overall.
Lauren Maxey paced the way for the Lady Thunder with 72 kills and 11 perfect passes and was named to the All-Tournament team. Natalie Buffett added 66 kills and three aces. Emily Greenwood had 14 kills and 10 blocks. Cameron Graham finished with 12 aces. Emma Henson had 25 perfect passes and 12 digs. Monica Costa finished with 22 assists and 10 perfect passes. Sam Albano had 10 perfect passes and eight digs. Gabriella Costa added six kills and six blocks.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
