The Braden River High volleyball team defeated Charlotte 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 Oct. 11.
With the win, the Lady Pirates improve to 14-9 (3-2) and clinched the third seed in the Class 7A-District 10 tournament, which begins Oct. 22.
Sophomore Siena Kelley paced the way for Braden River with 15 kills, 20 digs and three aces. Senior Courtney McDevitt finished with 14 kills, nine digs, 12 assists and two blocks. Senior Demi-Shay Watchorn had 32 assists, 19 service points and seven kills.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
