After scoring three touchdowns in the first half, the Lakewood Ranch High football team held on to beat Charlotte 26-23 in non-district action Sept. 27.
Justin Fischer and Wyatt McLeod both scored 3-yard touchdown runs and Chad Rex rushed for a 13-yard score to give the Mustangs a 20-0 halftime lead.
Rex connected with Trevor Losada with 5 minutes, 28 seconds left in the fourth quarter for what would be the game-winning touchdown.
With the win, Lakewood improves to 3-2. The Mustangs return to district action Oct. 4 versus North Port in their Homecoming game.
