River Wilderness Golf and Country Club in Parrish will host its first Sugar Shootout Golf Tournament Oct. 12 to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The four-person scramble tournament will feature a shotgun start, dinner and awards. In addition, participants will be able to compete in several contests, including longest drive, closest to the pin and inside the circle.
The cost to play is $100 per person. Those wishing to only participate in the dinner may do so for $40. Sponsorships are still available for $100.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
