The Braden River High volleyball team improved its overall record to 7-2 (3-0 Class 4A-District 10) with a 3-1 victory over district rival Lakewood Ranch Sept. 22.
The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Mustangs 25-22, 25-16, 16-25 and 25-15. Brittany Jaco, Kaleigh Jaco and Lauren Powell each had nine kills and setter Regina Aluise had 30 assists to lead the way for Braden River.
"I thought Kaleigh had a great match," Braden River coach Steven Haugh said. "We worked on getting her more involved in our offense at practice and it paid off."
Braden River will return to action at 7 p.m. tonight at Manatee. Lakewood Ranch will return to action at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Manatee.
