The Lakewood Ranch High swim team dove into action at the Tarpon Invitational Sept. 19.
The Mustangs and the Lady Mustangs finished with a combined 354 points to finish in sixth place, besting their 11th place finish from a year ago.
Lakewood's girls team finished with 228 points to tie Charlotte for fifth place. The Lady Mustangs finished in the top three in six events:
Girls 200-meter Medley Relay- Ashley Reid, Danielle Valley, Gillian Vogel and rebekah Baker (2nd place, 1:59.53)
Girls 200 Freestyle- Valley (2nd place, 1:56.73)
Girls 200 Individual Medley- Reid (2nd place, 2:11.86)
Girls 100 Butterfly- Baker (3rd place, 1:03.82)
Girls 100 Breaststroke- Valley (1st place, 1:11.39)
Girls 400 Freestyle Relay- Reid, Valley, Baker and Katherine Montoya (3rd place, 3:51.34)
Lakewood's boys team finished with 126 points for eighth place.
Lakewood will return to action at 4 p.m. tomorrow against Lemon Bay at Oyster Creek Pool, 6791 San Casa Drive, Englewood.

Petruff receives service award
East County resident and local attorney Patricia Petruff, a senior partner of the Dye, Deitrich, Petruff & St. Paul law firm in Bradenton, has been awarded the 2014 William C. Grimes Award for Lifetime Achievement in Community Service.
