Lakewood Ranch vs. Boca Ciega
Lakewood Ranch opens district play tonight at home versus Boca Ciega. The Mustangs, who are coming off a thrilling 21-14 overtime victory against Bayshore, beat the Pirates 19-0 a season ago. Lakewood Ranch needs strong performances from quarterback Chad Rex, running backs Chris Pearcey and A'Shawn Angel and its defensive unit led by seniors Luke Sears, K.J. Brown and Andre Christiano.
ODA vs. St. John Neumann
ODA returns home for the first time this season after hitting the road for the first three games of the season. The Thunder is hunting for their second district victory in its home opener tonight after last Friday's disappointing 48-10 loss to Moore Haven. ODA will look to avenge last season's 19-14 loss to the Celtics, which proved to be the turning point in the Thunder's season last fall.
Braden River vs. Riverview
Braden River and Riverview both enter tonight's game in search of their first win of the season. The Pirates are coming off back-to-back shutout losses while Riverview faced powerhouses Palmetto, Manatee and Venice to open the season. Quarterbacks Dom Marino and Eric Schappacher should prove to be the determining factor in who win's tonight's game.
Sarasota vs. Southeast
Sarasota and Southeast both enter tonight's non-district game with identical 2-1 records. The Sailors held North Port scoreless in the second half of last week's 28-14 victory over the Bobcats while the Seminoles routed Booker 42-6 last week.
Cardinal Mooney at Lemon Bay
Cardinal Mooney seeks to keep its undefeated season alive when it travels to Lemon Bay for tonight's non-district game. Cougars quarterback Reese Vita, who threw four touchdowns last week versus Lake Placid and ODA transfer Demardre Patterson, who has scored a touchdown in every game this season, will once again look to lead Cardinal Mooney.
