The Braden River High volleyball team defeated Bayshore 3-0 in Class 4A-District 10 action Sept. 15.
The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Bruins 25-10, 25-18 and 26-24 to improve their district record to 2-0. Junior Libero Kelly Sheils had 23 digs to lead the way for Braden River defensively. Senior Rachel Hubbard followed with 11 digs and senior Lauren Powell had seven kills and 10 service points.
Braden River will return to action at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 18 when they face St. Stephen's in the Manatee County Tournament. The match will be played at Bayshore High, 5401 34th St. West.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
