Lady Pirates, Lady Mustangs race to second-place finishes

The Braden River High and Lakewood Ranch High cross country teams both finished second at their respective cross country meets Sept. 8.
Alexis Cullen finished third (21:50.10) to propel the Lady Pirates to a second-place finish at the Lemon Bay Invitational. Madison Daunt finished ninth (22:42.40) followed by Mia Wiederkehr (23:27.20), Asia Borman (23:30.00) and Morgan Haas (26:16.10).
The Lady Mustangs scored 96 points to finish behind Estero (26 points) at the Barron Collier Invite. Katie Wray (21:06.50) led the way for Lakewood followed by Novak (21:17.6), Michelle Last (21:52.80), Emily Perez (21:53.90) and Platt (23:15.70).

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
